SAP AG Continues to Dominate the Mobile Enterprise Management Market
By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer
SAP (News - Alert) AG has once again received the distinction in the "Worldwide Mobile Enterprise Management Software 2012 – 2016 Forecast and Analysis and 2011 Vendor Shares" report. Explaining why SAP got the distinction again in what would be its eleventh consecutive year to bag the prize, the report pointed out that the SAP Afaria mobile device management systems commands a 16.4-percent share in the Mobile Enterprise Management (MEM) marketer, giving a gap of almost 10 percent to its nearest competitor.
With the diminishing divide between mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM) markets, IDC (News - Alert) has no option but to give an annual forecast and analysis release that combines the two fields into a common playing ground named MEM software. This replaces the in-comprehensive mobile device management forecast and analysis, which SAP has monopolized for 10 consecutive years.
Due to this metamorphosis, IDC suggests that enterprises should review the suitability of their mobile solutions to ensure that they at least cover device security and access to sensitive corporate information. This is in lieu with the report which clearly shows that the very best MEM solutions address these two critical requirements of enterprises and many more.
For instance, unique features of the SAP Afaria as identified by the IDC include; Comprehensive app life cycle support from SAP mobile platform integration, integration of SAP Business Objects (News - Alert) portfolio for detailed analysis of involved data and innovative scalability. In addition to this, SAP Afaria has a reputation in product flexibility and reliability, support for on-premise and on-demand and cloud delivery through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the assimilation of Samsung (News - Alert) SAFE API, an asymmetric encryption service capability for android.
Sanjay Poonen, president and head, Mobile Division, SAP, credits the continued impressive performance to the company’s engraved desire to deliver the best-in-class solutions to its more than 195,000 customers. He says, "SAP's market leadership, by over a 2:1 margin over competitors, is a function of our end-to-end mobile apps and platform, mobile security and secure content management that are helping customers rapidly implement highly robust, consumer-grade mobile solutions."
The IDC study that released these statistics scrutinized the MEM software market from 2011 to 2016. It includes a worldwide market sizing for 2012, a five-year growth forecast (2012-2016), vendor competitive analysis for 2011, profiles of leading vendors and identification of the characteristics of vendors destined to greatness among many other valuable bits and pieces of information.
